A Peoria man was sentenced Thursday to 4 and a half years in prison after a jury last month
found him guilty of being a felon in possession of a weapon. However, Julius Mudd was acquitted
of the more serious charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Those charges stem from the New Year's Eve shooting a year ago of Marcus Haywood. Mudd
claimed he feared for his life when he shot Haywood, claiming Haywood pulled a gun on him.
