NORMAL- Illinois State University Police tonight say there was no weapon involved in an incident between a Chicago man and a student earlier today.
Police say after interviewing the student they determined the student's original statement was based on the fear, and she never saw a weapon.
The Illinois State University campus was on lockdown this afternoon around 3:30 pm after reports of a suspect with a weapon on campus.
"Illinois State is required by law to issue immediate notification regarding reports of weapons on or near campus," said University Chief of Staff Jay Groves. "While we know these types of communications can be disruptive we are glad the incident ended in a safe manner."
No one has been charged, the incident is under investigation.
