PEORIA- Three candidates are battling it out to represent Peoria's first district.
At a forum Saturday Randall Emert Senior, Denise Moore and Gary Sandberg answered questions from district residents.
They explained their sides on issues like minority representation, the warehouse district, tax increment funding districts and how to increase economic development in the area. An especially hot button among the crowd was the city's consideration of outsourcing code enforcement.
We asked each candidate where they stood.
"Well I think if we can put our arms around why the council or city wants to outsource we might not even need to address that question," said Moore.
"They should not outsource code enf- Any time you bring in a private company in for code enforcement you're hiring a company to work for profit," said Emert.
Gary Sandberg refused to comment. The municipal primary election is February 26th.
