PEORIA - Local
agencies are teaming up to make healthy living easy.
More than a
dozen organizations from Peoria and Tazewell County shared ideas, aiming to
reduce chronic illness and promote healthier lifestyles at home and in the
workplace.
The
initiative is led by Quality Quest for Health of Illinois and it tackled issues
like healthy eating and living tobacco free.
Chronic
diseases such as heart disease and cancer are the leading causes of death in Peoria
and Tazewell
County. They say if living healthy was easier, more people would do it.
'It's helping to make
sure that we have options that are available. Helping to educate people on what
they can do to improve their health and their families health and the health of
the community," said Bonnie Paris with Quality Quest for Health of
Illinois.
The agencies will share
their ideas with local residents and businesses. The program is made possible
by a $2.4 million dollar grant
from the CDC.
