PEKIN- Checking the mailbox will soon be one less thing people have to do on Saturdays.
The U.S. Postal Service says there will be no more first class mail on Saturdays, but there will be package delivery. It says employees are delivering more packages than first class mail anyway.
Mail will still be delivered to customers with a P.O. Box and the postal service says since hours have already been cut, employees schedules won't change.
People outside of the Pekin post office had mixed feelings on the change.
"I think people need their mail, you know, just as quick and efficiently everyday, you know some people wait for checks to come," said Felicia Travise.
"I just like to have mail every day," said Jeoffrey Denham.
"It wont really affect me a whole lot," said Dan Smith.
This new policy will start in August.
