Two emergency spending bills passed the Illinois House Tuesday and were sent to the Illinois
Senate, according to the Illinois General Assembly website. Supporters say the spending will
focus on jobs in highway construction projects and money for the state's Department of Children
and Family Services to hire child abuse investigators and beef up mental health programs. One
bill will require the governor to submit a state budget no later than March 6th. Both bills are now in
the Illinois Senate.
