ILLINOIS - An Illinois Senate committee vote moves gay marriage one step closer to becoming legalized in the state.
By a vote of 9 to 5, members of an Illinois Senate committee voted to move the measure, which is co-sponsored by Peoria Senator Dave Koehler, forward to a final vote.
Earlier this week, Senate President John Cullerton suggested that a vote on the Senate floor could happen Valentines Day.
Cullerton says he believes he has the 30 votes necessary for the gay marriage bill to pass through his chamber.
