Normal approved a new agreement Monday night with Henson Disposal to recycle bulk waste left at
the curb, but there were some concerns from McLean County officials. According to news partner
WJBC Radio, the county administers state pollution controls on the local level and were
concerned that Henson might not have the proper permits to accept waste. Normal's city manager
says Henson ownership assured the town they have the permits needed to receive bulky waste
but are not permitted to accept what is termed household solid waste. Bulk waste items include
anything from applicances to lawn mowers, shingles, metal and more.
