PEORIA- A Peoria man, arrested in connection with the city's 8th homicide last year, pleaded
guilty Thursday to a weapons charge and awaits sentencing. Alex Ferguson pleaded guilty to
aggravated unlawful use of a weapon while the more serious charge of involuntary manslaughter
was dismissed. Those charges were filed in connection with the shooting death of Dwight McCall
Junior. McCall was shot in the chest in the 1800 block of West Butler Street last August.
Prosecutors say the dropped the involuntary manslaughter charge because they were not able
to prove Ferguson was responsible for the shooting but was in possession of a weapon.
Ferguson will be sentenced March 15th and faces from one to three years in prison.
