PEORIA - There's new
hope for out of work people in central Illinois.
A local program is
helping people prepare for manufacturing jobs, and it's all for free.
Illinois Central
College is giving people hands-on manufacturing experience.
The college is offering
a "bridge" course for interested students who need help in math,
reading and real-life experience...
Mock interviews,
hands-on experience and tours of local manufacturers are included.
Judy Dietrich, with
academic affairs at ICC, said the goal is to prepare students for college or
the work force.
"They have a
better knowledge of what they're getting into and then we also explore the
different pathways so it's tangible. They can see it. They're engaged right
from the beginning," said Dietrich.
The class starts
February 11 and space is limited. Applicants must have a high school diploma or
be working toward their GED. A reading placement test is also required.
To register for the class,
call ICC at (309) 690-6863.
