SPRINGFIELD- Representive Mike Unes (R- East Peoria) voted NO Wednesday on Illinois House
Resolution 34 which established rules under which the House will operate.
In a news release from Unes, the Republicans proposed Amendment 1 which would have
allowed for bills to be assigned to a substantive committee upon petition by a supermajority of
Illinois House members from either party. However, Unes says, the amendment was prevented
by the Illinois House Majority Caucus who now holds a veto proof hold over the Illinois House.
Unes calls the blocking of their amendment a huge defeat for transparency in state government.
