The organization has long restricted
having gay members or leaders, but now that could change.
In a statement, it said it's working
to determine the best interest of the organization and the young people it
serves.
Locally, some people said lifting the
ban is the right thing to do.
Marcus Greiner said, "You know what I
think, homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and more the norm and
that's fine and so if the boy scouts don't accept it I think that's wrong, they
should accept it."
Leslie Keyes said, "I think it's
great. I don't think there should be any discrimination whether it be for
anything at all."
Tonya Lempesis said, "I think there a
private organization and they should be allowed to do what they'd like to be
able to do."
The organization said the discussion
will continue at next week's national board meeting.
