PEORIA- Bradley University students powered through nearly 48 hours this weekend trying to come up with the next big game.

They're participating in the world's largest game building event, Global Game Jam 2013. Students work in teams to come up with a brand new idea based on a provided theme, this year's is "the sound of a heartbeat."

Apart from that, the sky's the limit. Teams can create digital games, board games, card games and anything else their heart desires. It's not a competition, but a great opportunity for students to impress potential employers.

"Well honestly if a company actually likes it that'd be awesome, if they actually showed interest and could maybe want our idea or to encourage it. That'd be the best case scenario, other than that other companies for the future will look at our resume and see what we have made and actually really like that," Jack Stephens.

Hundreds of games are being created over the course of this weekend. They're uploaded to one server and some could potentially end up at a store near you.
