Family Displaced after Fire Ravages East Peoria Home

EAST PEORIA- Six people are homeless after a fire destroyed their house.
It happened just after four Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of Wildwood Court.
Authorities say the blaze began in the garage and quickly spread to the house.
The fire department says the home is most likely a total loss.
Damage is estimated at $90,000.
Meantime authorities believe a heating unit in the garage is to blame for the incident.
The family is safe, but they did lose their cat.
Neighbors have stepped up to lend the victims a hand.
Many have donated clothes and food.

EPFD did the best they could in my opinion. And that should count more then most since i lived in the house. When they arrived the power lines came loose from the house and were sparking in the street. they had to deal with the live wire before they started breaking out hoses and spraying

The East Peoria Fire Dept. dropped the ball on this one. Only the garage was on fire when they arrived... They took so long to get ready, it spread to the house. Bad tactics lets it spread throughout the house. The fire "chief" is quoted as saying that the fire had already spread to the house before their arrival.... not so much, I live closeby and watched it spread to the house AFTER their arrival. The "chief" has been well known to lie to the news, I smell coverup. Government politics at its best. Time to get back behind your desk...."chief!"
