PEORIA- Despite Saturday morning's freezing temperatures, runners took to the streets for a good cause at the 14th annual Frosty 5K.
It's a fundraiser for FamilyCore, an organization that helps children and families in the tri-county area.
Some ran while others walked; more than 300 people raced.
"For not only children but families, individuals, we offer a variety of counseling programs here at this particular location at 330 Southwest Washington Street, but we also have our outreach program. We're involved in very many schools in the Peoria district," Debbie Ryva.
Ryva said the number of participants more than doubled from last year. She said she hopes next year will be even bigger for their 15th Frosty 5K.
