Sugar Mama Bakery Opens in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON - There's a new sweet spot in Bloomington.
It's called Sugar Mama Bakery. The shop specializes in cupcakes, specialty cakes and "Sugar Babies" - which are the bakery's take on cake pops.
It's in the downtown space formerly occupied by the Red Oak Comfort Food and Pie Company. The co-owners say the shop grew out of a home-based business.
"There is something about dessert," co-owner Krista Gaff said. "It is a special treat, it is something you usually don't do by yourself, you bring your friends, you bring your kids, you take to work. That is why it is kind of a big deal."
Sugar Mama is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
