Canton firemen say two firemen were injured battling  a house fire Thursday morning at 723 South 1st. Firefighters say they were delayed getting to the scene  a few minutes because of a train as well as a downed power line directly in front of the burning home. The firemen found the house fully engulfed and Copperas Creek and Cuba firemen were called to assist. According to a report,
a front porch of the burning home collapsed , injuring two firemen and trapping one of them.
They were taken to a local hospital but were treated and released. Four pets were in the home but
only one dog survived. No one was home at the time.
