Peoria moved up six spots in the latest Best Performing Cities List, according to a news release
from the Peoria Chamber of Commerce. Peoria comes in at 62 on that list, up from 87 in 2010. The
study compares job, wage and technology performance metrics over a five year period to capture
the structural elements of the region. Greater Peoria experienced an increase in GDP growth
compared to the year before while job growth and wages remained relatively unchanged from
2011. Rockford came in 115 which was much better than 177 in 2011 while the Quad Cities
came in 132 compared to 107 in 2011.
