PEORIA - One religious organization is using chili to help special needs children in religious schools get a top education.
The Peoria Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education (FIRE) hosted their third annual Chili Dinner Saturday night.
The money raised will go towards grants to help children with special needs succeed in religious schools.
Many of these private institutions don't have the funding needed to assist students who might be falling behind.
That's why the group steps up to lend a hand.
FIRE President Trish Ralph said, "What we want to do is empower the schools, as well as the teachers and students, to be able to include kids with special needs in their classrooms for a truly inclusive experience. So many school don't have the funds to do that."
The group hopes to raise three thousand dollars at the dinner.
