Six Blocks Barricaded in Peoria for Sign Removal

Six city blocks in Peoria will be barricaded off from all vehicle and pedestrian access Saturday,
January 19th for a sign removal. Hardin Signs will be coordinating the removal of the old
Associated Bank building signs located at 125 NE Jefferson. This activity will be handled by
Midwest Helicopter Airways. FAA regulation states streets and sidewalks are required to be closed
to insure public safety during a helicopter operation. Friday evening, January 18th parking
restrictions will begin to take place. Meters will be bagged in the immediate helicopter zone,
which includes: Hamilton Boulevard between Jefferson and NE Madison; Jefferson in front of
the Associated Bank building; the corner of NE Madison and Hamilton Bouvelard adjacent to the
parking lot A portion of the parking lot located at the corner of NE Madison and Hamilton
Bouvelard will be closed which will be used as the landing zone for the helicopter. Starting at 6:30am,
January 19th, the following streets will be CLOSED: On Hamilton Bouvelard closed from NE Monroe
to NE Adams; Jefferson closed from Main Street to Fayette Street, with southbound Jefferson traffic
detoured at Spalding to NE Monroe and NE Madison closed from Main to Fayette with southbound
Madison traffic detoured at Spalding to NE Monroe. The restrictions will be in place until the
helicopter has left the downtown area, noon at least.
