PEORIA - As the temperatures drop, local homeless shelters are seeing record numbers.

The Peoria Dream Center's overnight shelter for families is reaching capacity.

Director of Homeless and Housing Programs Kristy Schofield said it has added more amenities like breakfast and showers.

She said the colder weather has more people looking for a place to stay. "We are pretty much maxed out. Although we'll take as many as come, but we're seeing approximately 30 and 30 plus on the cots every night in the shelter."

Schofield said the Dream Center is working toward offering a room to every family it serves.
