The parade is part of a new wellness program called "Walk to School Wednesdays."
It started by a group of parents determined to keep their children healthy.
In the middle of the week, they meet in Uptown Normal and begin the trek to Metcalf School.
The building is about a half mile away.
Parents like Barbara Simmons say the trip not only wakes children up, it's also helping them start a good habit.
"Your two feet are your mode of transportation. They don't always have to be in a car, you don't always have to be in a bus. You're starting your day with a little exercise."
When the walk began last week, organizers expected only a few children to show up.
To their surprise, nearly 30 children are taking part in the wellness effort.
