The Illinois Supreme Court Tuesday heard oral arguments from a Peoria man who has spent 18
years in prison for a home invasion, he said, he didn't commit. Christopher L. Coleman is asking
the state's highest court for a new trial. Coleman has been in prison since August 1994 after a
home invasion in which a teenager was raped. Coleman's petition for a new trial was denied in
2010 and the denial was upheld by the appellate court. Coleman's appeal is being handled
by those involved with the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University.
