Pekin House Fire Claims Two Lives Sunday Morning

PEKIN - Early Sunday morning a house fire claimed the lives of a Pekin couple.
According to the Pekin Fire Department the fire started in the basement and spread through the whole house.
Fire Fighters said they tried to get in the house to battle the blaze but due to so much stuff, they couldn't.
Fire fighters said it was obvious the couple were hoarders.
Pekin FD says there was stuff piled to the ceiling; which is why they decided not to go into the house to extinguish the fire.
Fire fighters say there isn't much you can do to save a home when there's stuff everywhere. They say it only helps feed the fire.
Nearby neighbors said they knew the couple very well and they did have a hoarding problem. Some said they would always see the couple coming home with more and more stuff.
