PEKIN - The search for two people after a house fire ended Sunday they way authorities thought it might.
They pulled an unidentified elderly woman out from under the rubble earlier in the day. Then they did the same for an unidentified elderly man later in the evening.
Although the discoveries were hours apart, authorities told WMBD 31 the bodies were actually five feet apart from each other.
One reason is because of the high volume of belongings inside the house, most of which had caved in due to heavy water and fire damage.
The fire started around 8:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Cottage Grove Ave.
The victims are expected to be identified Monday. A cause of the fire hasn't been released.
