PEORIA - There are new restrictions at four hospitals in the Peoria area.
It's in an effort to try and protect people in the midst of a deadly flu outbreak nationwide.
The restrictions take effect Monday, January 14 at Methodist Medical Center, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Pekin Hospital and Proctor Hospital.
Visitors need to be at least 18-years-old.
No more than two visitors will be allowed at one time.
Hospital staff might ask you to wear a mask or leave the patient area if you are coughing or sneezing.
You should not visit a hospital if you've had flu-like symptoms in the past week.
Remember to wash your hands and cough and sneeze into a tissue or your arm or shoulder.
These restrictions are currently voluntary and will remain in place during the heightened outbreak.
