Bradley Braves center Will Egolf pleaded guilty Friday afternoon in a surprise, last minute court
appearance to a drug possession charge stemming from his arrest New Year's Eve. The 23
year old Egolf was sentenced to probation, public service, and fined $730 and ordered
to undergo drug and alcohol treatment as needed, according to court records. According to court
officials, since Egolf is a first time offender , if he completes all the terms of his probation,
his conviction will be expunged from his record. Egolf was arrested after police say they found
Vicodin painkillers that Egolf reportedly purchased to ease pain in his right knee. Egolf could
be available to play next week when Bradley hosts Southern Illinois, according to a university
news release. Egolf also issued a statement apologizing.

I am glad the university isn't compounding the punishment. Clearly this is a young man who got caught up in the need for pain meds relating to his injury and the desire to keep playing. Hopefully he will make good decisions regarding playing and any treatment needed because of the drugs.
