PEORIA - A Peoria elementary school is kicking off a new semester with a focus on positive behavior.

More than 500 Hines Elementary students listened to local children's singer Julie K.

Principal Heather Young said the concert is fun, effective and a way to motivate the students. She said the school follows a system called "Positive Behavior Intervention Support" and every new year is a time to re-teach that. "We wanted to make sure it was fun and it was related to the expectations. We get our model around what we call the "Four B's" which is be respectful, be responsible, be safe and always be ready to learn."

Young said students with good behavior get "B" bucks. She said the kids can then cash their bucks in for a prize.
