State lawmakers are back in session in Springfield for round two of the lame duck session. There was movement Monday on a proposal that could make Illinois the next state to allow illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses. The bill has passed out of an Illinois House committee and is ready for a vote. Meantime, the Illinois House also plans to try and move a pension reform bill to the floor. It passed out of committee Monday afternoon. The bill will include details of a new plan outlined late last week that includes higher employee contributions, a limit on cost of living increases to pension benefits and a mechanism to ensure that the state makes its required pension contribution each year.
