PEORIA - A driver is in the hospital after crashing into a Peoria apartment.
It happened a little after 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 5000 block of Sheridan Rd. According to police, the driver lost control, barely missed a tree and ran into the apartment building.
No one was home. The driver was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. Authorities said the driver is lucky that the accident wasn't worse.
"Look like she came off the road, just north of Sheridan, off of Glen. Just missed a guide wire. Went between the guide wire and a telephone pole actually and hit the house," said Captain Terry Carter.
Police aren't sure what caused the woman to lose control. They do not believe the accident was weather related.
