ELMWOOD - A local high school basketball team is willing to take a bad hair day for a good cause.
The Elmwood High School basketball team shaved their heads Thursday to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Classmates paid money to shave the players. For a little extra money, the players and coaches also wore dresses and make-up. All of this happened in front of their peers in the Elmwood High School gym.
The boys said its embarrassing, but worth it.
"It's because they can't come and do the stuff that we, do like play basketball, because they're in the hospital. And so any way to raise money for them, and if this is the way to raise money, then it works," said senior Jake Osmulski.
The team raised more than $7,000 this year, the most ever raised with this event.
