PEORIA - Peoria city council member Barbara Van Auken is making it known why she wants to run again.
The second district councilwoman held an announcement party Thursday at Aggatucci's in Peoria.
Other city leaders, including mayor Jim Ardis, and local supporters showed their enthusiasm for Van Auken's campaign. She is seeking her third term and says she'd like to be a part of current projects, like the development of the downtown Marriott hotel and the Warehouse District.
"I get to wake up every morning and know pretty sure that I'm going to be able to do something for someone, large or small. And I love that, and I'm not tired of doing it. So that's why I'm running again," said Van Auken.
Former longtime at-large councilman Chuck Grayeb has also announced a run for the second district seat.
