BLOOMINGTON- A select group of Twin Cities beer lovers is getting their first taste of a rare Belgium brew, but it took patience to get it.
Dozens lined up at Binny's Beverage Depot last night to buy the prized ale.
It's called Westvleteren 12, and it's never been sold in the United States, until now.
The limited beer is brewed at an abbey in West Belgium.
The company needed extra money so it decided to offer the product to Americans.
Binny's sold it at nine this morning.
On this date of 12, 12 , 12, it was gone in... you guessed it...12 minutes.
"The first guy walking out with a six pack got a round of applause from everyone in line," said store employee Courtney Love. "Everyone in line clapped for him and were happy for him. They knew they were next so they were good too."
Bloomington's Friar Tuck liquor store also received 56 packs of the beer.
It chose to raffle them off.
More than 1,000 people signed up for a chance to win.
