PEORIA-The Salvation Army of Peoria is helping kids stay warm this winter.
Today it's handing out coats at its annual Coats for Kids Giveaway.
People can come and pick out a coat from more than 12-hundred donated coats.
All they need is an ID and medical card.
The Salvation Army estimates it's helping more than 100 families.
Those families say the giveaway is a blessing since coats can be pricey.
" It helps a lot, because coats are really, really expensive," said Tasha Barlow of Peoria. "They grow out of the, so fast. It helps to be able to get a coat for the Winter."
The Salvation Army is planning more coat giveaways.
And donations are still being accepted.
Just drop them off at any donation barrel you see around the River City.
