PEORIA -- The Peoria Chiefs are debuting brand new merchandise now that the team is affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Fans can purchase three new jerseys and hats.
The Director of Media Nathan Baliva said the jersey's have more of a Cardinals look. He said there's a lot more red and no pinstripes.
The team is also releasing a new alternative hat for fans this year. Baliva said it's one that both Cubs and Cardinal fans can agree on.
He said, "We are a Cardinals affiliate but we want to be central Illinois' baseball team and we are. And so the Peoria Chiefs with the "PC" in the alternate hat it doens't have anything on it, so it doesn't matter what fan you are of baseball, we just hope you're a Peoria Chiefs fan."
Baliva said there's no change in the mascot. Homer is here to stay.
