Il .Senate Committee Okays Licenses for Illegal Immigrants

An Illinois Senate committee Thursday okayed a plan to give illegal immigrants in the state drivers licenses for up to three years. The Illinois Senate Executive Committee okayed the plan saying about 250,000 illegal immigrants reside in the state. Supporters claim the plan would make state roads safer with trained motorists required to carry insurance. Authorities say unlicensed and uninsured illegal immigrants account for $64 million in damage claims each year.
