Junction City Apartment Complex Approved by Council

PEORIA - A controversial apartment complex will be built at Junction City, despite months of protests by local residents.
Tuesday, Peoria city leaders approved a three-story residential building with 25 apartment units on the second and third floor.
Dozens of nearby residents strongly pleaded against the plan.They told city leaders the complex would drop property values, create heavy traffic and make the area too crowded.
The plan was originally turned down by the zoning board, but then passed in November after being revised to meet local concerns. Tuesday, city leaders approved the complex, six to four. Council members Riggenbach, Spears, Spain, Van Auken, Weaver and Gulley voted in favor. Council members Irving, Sandberg, Akeson, and Turned voted against the complex.
