SPRINGFIELD- There's mixed news on the local labor front. The latest
report from the Illinois Department of Employment Security Wednesday
shows Peoria's jobless rate inched up from 7.5 percent in September to
7.7 percent in October. That is better than a year ago when unemployment
stood locally at 8.6 percent. In the Twin Cities, the jobless rate fell
slightly from 6.7 percent to 6.6 percent in October. Peoria had one of
the largest increases in the state with 2000 new jobs created , up 1.1
percent with many of those jobs coming from manufacturing and leisure
and hospitality.
Comments
A lot of these jobs they say that have been created are jobs that do not pay well enough for people to support themselves.
