IDOT Announces Plans For Winter Season.

PEORIA-- IDOT and Illinois State Police are teaming up to prepare for the winter season.
IDOT announced their winter plan for 2012-2013 season. They say they'll have a full staff ready to tackle on what Mother Nature brings. IDOT and ISP are launching a new campaign "Ice and Snow - Take It Slow" to try and urge drivers to be prepared for hazardous driving conditions.
IDOT says they have plenty of equipment to clean and clear both urban and rural roads. They say that they will try and take care of every road that needs attention but ask for the patience of the community.
IDOT Ice and Snow Safety Tips:
Always wear a safety belt.
Don't crowd the snow plow.
Watch for black ice. Take it slow when approaching intersections, off-ramps and bridges.
Keep your gas tank 2/3 full all the time.
Do not travel unless absolutely necessary.
Bring a cell phone for emergency use.
Check travel conditions before leaving.
