BLOOMINGTON- A Lexington man, arrested on multiple charges earlier this
month, was indicted Wednesday by the grand jury on animal cruelty and
assault charges. 30 year old Curtis Cleary is facing a five count
indictment, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a
firearm with no FOID card, cruelty to animals and domestic battery.
Police say those charges were filed after deputies found dozens of
animal carcasses on his property. Further investigation , police say,
revealed Cleary's involvement with "Don't Bully My Breed", an animal
welfare organization with a Peoria branch. A volunteer with the "Don't
Bully My Breed" said the animals were not part of their organization and
claimed Cleary owned the animals. The volunteer claims Cleary is no
longer associated with the group. Cleary is free on bond and will be
back in court November 16th.
