BLOOMINGTON - Pies are a tasty staple at a lot of Thanksgiving dinners, but to some people they don't fit in the grocery budget.
A lot of those people stand in line at Clare House for bags of food every week.
Such was the case Wednesday, only students from Holy Trinity Catholic School were there to make a difference.
The students handed out free frozen pies to every person who went through the line for food.
The pies available were pumpkin and apple. They come from a fundraising effort at the school that gets money for technology.
A parent coordinator of the effort says handing out pies is also a valuable life experience for the kids.
Christine Hornsby said, "People that need this aren't the typical people they think it is, and I want them to see the people. I mean, it's all types of people that need this help."
Wednesday's goal was to hand out 170 pies. It's the second year students are visiting Clare House.
Last year, there was such a long line they ran out of pies.
