PEORIA- Peoria District 150 schools is asking for more from local property taxes.
At Tuesday's school board meeting, the district estimated it will need $68.6 million levied for 2012. The tax levy request is a two percent increase from the $67.6 million last year.
However, the district claims the overall estimate could change because the request must be approved by Peoria County tax assessors.
Tuesday's announcement was the first step of a three step process. The district will hold a public presentation of the overall tax levy at its board meeting on November 26.
A public hearing will take place on December 10.
