WASHINGTON - A local high school is Taking Action for children in need.

Washington Community High School football players presented Easter Seals with a big check Friday. They raised the money in an unconventional way. The students collected pledges.

The eight top fundraisers each got to select another student to have their head shaved.

"The original idea, we were thinking maybe we can get 4 or 5 guys involved and the next thing you know, we got about 25 guys that all said we'll do it," said Larry Brenton. "Chris said we should do it for Easter Seals since we didn't have a blackout this year."

The students raised more that $1,600 for Easter Seals.
