PEORIA - Some Peoria elementary students are doing something a little special for Veteran's Day.
Students at Kellar Primary School donated a patriotic piece of artwork to a local veterans home. More than 350 students played a part in making this mosaic American flag.
Thursday, the flag was presented to Goodwill's General Wayne A. Downing Foundation. The school said many student and staff families include people serving in the Armed Forces.
The flag honors them and lets the kids be part of something special.
"I painted the window to that building. I painted this part over here. So they get really excited to see when their piece becomes part of something larger," said art teacher Erica Van Ollefen.
The flag will be on display during an open house at the Goodwill Home for Veterans from 10 a.m to noon on Saturday, November 10.
