BLOOMINGTON--A travel boom at the Central Illinois Regional Airport has prompted the business to get larger planes.
Starting January seventh, its carrier, Frontier Airlines will add an extra 39 seats to its aircrafts.
The change is happening on flights to Denver, Colorado.
Currently, the planes can carry up to 99 passengers.
By bumping up the total, the airport says more people will be able to fly west at one time.
Since Frontier began offering flights from CIRA in May, Airport Director Carl Olson says trips have soared.
"Not only in advanced booking, but in loads," explained Olson. "As a result, it was a very good case we could make to Frontier to increase their investment. Bringing in a larger aircraft and more seats."
CIRA says the larger aircraft will allow more people to travel on a schedule that's best for them.
Flights to Denver are offered four days a week.
