Farmington Area Library District Gets Help from Voters

FARMINGTON- Local tax payers are helping the Farmington Area Public Library District pay for a new library.
The proposed project is a $2.5 million library.
The district is eligible for a $1.5 to $1.6 million state grant.
Voters had to pass a referendum on Tuesday to use $700,000 in tax dollars for the project.
They approved a referendum with 51 percent (1,690) voting "yes" and 49 percent (1,622) voting "no".
Now, the library system can get state funding.
The Farmington Area Public Library District is one of 15 downstate libraries eligible for the grant.
The library director says the community needs a larger facility.
