BLOOMINGTON--An old house, once a breeding ground for crime, is now a premier place to live.
The site, known as the Soper-Burr House, is located in the city's historic district.
Built in 1859, its status prevented leaders from tearing it down.
So local developer Mike Manna bought the house and flipped it into a building filled with upscale apartments.
Now, he's proud to give tenants a place enjoy the past.
"The woodwork, some of the things in the house were unique to that time, you can only read about something for so long," Manna explained. " You want to see it, touch it, and walk through it. It's exciting."
It took nearly a year and a half to transform the Soper-Burr house.
There are still units available to rent.
They range from $600 to $900 dollars.
