PEORIA- The Peoria Friendship House is trying to help families who can't afford Christmas.
The Friendship House is asking people to 'Adopt-a-Family.' Volunteers can choose how big of a family to support, then they decide how much to donate. The minimum is one toy and one outfit per child.
Last year the friendship house helped 121 families, this year it hopes to give share the Christmas spirit with 150.
"For some of these people, without this program their children would have no Christmas. So it's who wants to think of a 5-year-old child
Christmas morning and there's nothing under their tree," said organizer Michelle Kelly.
People can also donate without adopting a family. The friendship house needs food, toys and household items like soap. If you donate enough money the friendship house will adopt a family for you.
