PEORIA-- Volunteers are taking action at Peoria's Springdale Cemetery this week.
Locals braved the chilly temperatures Monday morning to help clean up head stones at Soldier Hill. The volunteers were given the job of brushing a special chemical on the head stones to remove any dirt and other sap.
The chemical the cemetery purchased was shipped in from Maryland and cost more than $1k per 55-gallons. The cemetery will be accepting donations for the cost of the chemical and if you want to donate you can contact General Manager Jon Austin at (309) 681-1400 or at jon@springdalecemetery.com
Although the chemicals were expensive the cemetery did get help from Getz Pressure Washing. They are providing washing of the head stones free of charge. Vice-President of Getz says that he's glad his company can give back to veterans even though it's a simple task.
