BARTONVILLE- People in Bartonville remembered two fallen heroes on Saturday by rolling up their sleeves.
The American Red Cross held a blood drive at Monroe Grade School. It's in honor of Lance Cpl. Jordan Bastean of Pekin and Lance Cpl. Robert "RJ" Newton of Creve Coeur.
Both died in the line of duty while serving their country in Afghanistan. The Red Cross said they're excited to honor these men while filling the need for blood.
"But right now as we're getting ready to head into holiday season. Our hardest hit times down at the red cross of course are the winter holiday months as well as in the summer. So we're just trying to get ahead of the game now," said Nicole Powell who works for The Red Cross.
The blood drive is also paying tribute to all our troops at home and abroad.
